Chicago Misdemeanor Criminal Charges

Even what may seem like a minor crime could result in your spending upwards of a year in jail, facing a life-long criminal record, and require you to pay fines of up to $2,500. Misdemeanor charges are broken out into classes which are:

Class C Misdemeanor – includes assault and possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana. A conviction could result in fines of up to $1500 and jail time of up to 30 days.

Class B Misdemeanor – if you are found in possession of between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana or you are found guilty of harassment, you could be facing up to six months in jail and $1500 in fines.
